According to The National Weather Service a Flash Flood Watch will be in effect this evening, Friday, May 16th, 2014. Heavy rain is expected to coincide with high tide on the Atlantic and Western Long Island Sound, which could exacerbate flooding along the South Shore of Long Island.
Any resident NORTH of West Broadway should anticipate heavy flooding conditions. As a courtesy to our residents, the Mayor and Village Board welcome all of our residents in that flood zone location to park their vehicles in one of our municipal lots, with a note affixed to the dashboard, stating name and address and “PARKED DUE TO FLOODING CONDITIONS”.
As our typical procedure, we will have staff ready to install barricades along designated streets to prevent backwash from moving traffic onto and into the homes.
