Upgraded Gas Mains are Being Installed in Cedarhurst

Cedarhurst is a-buzz with infrastructure improvements.   Many of our roads and sidewalks have been affected by temporary closures, and excavation is taking place throughout the Village.  The work in our business area is nearing completion and the road and sidewalk restorations are underway.   The plan is to finish the repaving before the end of April, weather permitting.

The latest activity is the installation of new high pressure gas mains in our residential areas north of West Broadway.  This will result in elimination of century-old low pressure gas mains with modern, and safer high pressure mains that can deliver the increased volumes of natural gas needed to operate the hundreds of standby generators that have been installed in our Village since Superstorm Sandy.

National Grid has already started the installations on Grant Pl, Kensington Pl, Monroe St, Oakland Ave and Trysting Pl.   The work will then continue on First Street and Lincoln St.

During these projects National Grid will need to temporarily close roads to all traffic but will not obstruct access by emergency vehicles.
