Stop Throwing Out Pollutants | TOH Disposal Program

Did you know throwing out everyday items such as aerosol cans, fluorescent bulbs, household cleaning chemicals, pesticides, paint cans and batteries can be very harmful to the environment?  These toxins sit in our landfills and can end up in our drinking water as well as in our bays and estuaries.  They are harmful to plants, fish, animal and humans.

We have a convenient opportunity to dispose of these pollutants safely and FREE OF CHARGE.

On Sunday, October 15th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Town of Hempstead will host the S.T.O.P collection and recycling program at North Woodmere Park, located at Branch Boulevard and Hungry Harbor Road in North Woodmere.

For a complete list of items that can be brought to the S.T.O.P program please visit Town of Hempstead website by clicking here, or if you have any questions please call the Town’s Department of Sanitation at (516) 378-4210 ext. 6.
