You can help keep your identity a little bit safer by visiting Sanitary District #1, which is located at 2 Bay Blvd, Lawrence, NY 11559 on Sunday, April 6th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. All residents are invited to dispose of confidential information in a controlled, secure environment. The district will have a high-capacity Shredder Truck onsite to permanently dispose of any personal information.
Please bring your shredding materials in paper bags or cardboard boxes—plastic bags can’t be accepted. Each household can bring up to four (4) paper bags or boxes. Shredding will wrap up once the trucks are full, so be sure to come early!
What should you shred?
The easy answer – anything that has a signature, account number, Social Security number, medical or legal information. In short, destroy all sensitive information including junk mail with pre-approved credit card offers.
