Ringing in the New Year? Put Safety First!

As New Year’s Eve celebrations near, the Nassau County Police Department is stepping up patrols to identify and arrest drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

These enhanced patrols will continue through New Year’s Day, ensuring roadways remain safe and free from intoxicated or impaired drivers.

Keep yourself and others safe by following these tips:

  • Plan ahead: Designate a sober driver or use ride-sharing services to get to and from your location safely.
  • Drive smart: Avoid traveling late at night when impaired drivers are more likely to be on the road.
  • Stay alert: Even if you’re sober, don’t drive if you’re tired or sleepy, as fatigue can increase the risk of accidents.

Let’s make the start of the new year a safe and joyful one for everyone!
