Recent Car Break-Ins Throughout the Five Towns

Mayor Benjamin Weinstock  announced that the Fourth Precinct reported today that 5 men from Far Rockaway and Inwood were arrested in connection with the increased number of car break-ins, primarily in Woodmere.

The Fourth Precinct believes the subjects who were arrested are responsible for most of the overnight larcenies from autos.  The Police Department is optimistic that with these arrests, the crime pattern will stop or significantly diminish,

The Police Department believes that car break-ins are crimes of opportunity, and there are several simple steps that everyone should follow to keep safe.

Always lock your car doors even if you’re only leaving it unattended for a few minutes.
Never leave any valuables inside the vehicle, even if it’s in your driveway.
Park in a well-lit area whenever possible.
If you see something, say something.  Do not delay in reporting any suspicious activity to 911.
