NY State Traffic Study

As of Monday, March 15, you may have noticed traffic counts taking place in 3 places in  the Village.  These counts are part of a large state-wide study  that the NY State Department of Transportation is conducting throughout the state.   The purpose of these counts is to enable the state to understand the volume of traffic on local roads, including cul-de-sacs, dead ends and even alleys.

The placement of the traffic count machines was done “randomly” by the state and will not be used for any specific purpose relating to the sampled roads.   The data is being developed for a larger statistical purpose.
