We were just notified by the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) of upcoming schedule changes to take effect Tuesday, Sept. 5, along with a few additional services. The new schedules will increase service to Penn Station and add more direct service to Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn.
The main modifications to the service are detailed below. Please refer to the TrainTime app for any additional minor alterations in departure or transfer times.
Far Rockaway Branch
In the morning peak, four of ten trains from Far Rockaway will run to Atlantic Terminal instead of Manhattan, restoring direct service to Brooklyn on the branch.
- The train originally scheduled for 5:28 a.m. departure from Far Rockaway will now terminate at Atlantic Terminal instead of Grand Central.
- The train departing Far Rockaway at 5:45 a.m. will now head to Atlantic Terminal, shifting from its previous route to Penn Station, and an additional stop will be made at Rosedale.
- The train leaving Far Rockaway at 6:26 a.m. will now run to Atlantic Terminal instead of Penn Station, and it will include added stops at Locust Manor, Laurelton, and Rosedale.
- The train initially set for 7:35 a.m. departure from Far Rockaway will now leave at 7:34 a.m. and travel to Atlantic Terminal rather than Grand Central. This route will also include additional stops at Laurelton and Locust Manor.
