Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island 9-11 Memorial

As part of the 20th year remembrance of the terrorist attacks on America, Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island is offering families of victims and those who perished from exposure at Ground Zero the opportunity to honor loved ones’ by adding their names to its 9-11 Memorial.

The memorial, located at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, was erected in 2003 and currently displays the names of 414 individuals who were victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center and individuals who worked to rescue and recover the victims at Ground Zero.  Individuals who lost their lives later due to health conditions and exposure at Ground Zero and lower Manhattan are also eligible for inclusion on the memorial.

Family members are encouraged to submit their loved ones’ names using a special form by July 31, 2021.  Inscription on the memorial is provided by Catholic Cemeteries at no cost to the families, and the individuals do not have to be Catholic for inclusion.
