TOH Child Car Seat Safety Program

Car crashes is the leading cause of death and serious injury to children under age 13. This can be prevented or mitigated with properly installed car seats. If you are a parent, grandparent, caregiver, or travel with children, knowing how to correctly install and use a car seat is essential.

On Wednesday, August 14th, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Cedarhurst train station taxi cab parking area on Summit Avenue, the Town of Hempstead will be hosting the Child Car Seat Safety Program. Thanks to Supervisor Don Clavin and Councilwoman Melissa Miller, certified technicians will inspect your car seat placement in your vehicle and let you know of they are correctly positioned and properly installed. They will also recommend appropriate car seats, and check for recalls or defects. This service is free, but appointments are required.

To make an appointment, call the Department of Public Safety at (516) 538-1900, extension 7709, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or visit http://hempsteadny.gov/218/child-car-seat-safety-program.
